Welcome to LBI! (About Me)

Hi, my name is Deb. I'm in my 40's, and I've thought of Long Beach Island as my second home for as long as I can remember. I grew up taking yearly vacations in Beach Haven, and even learned to walk at our Long Beach Island rental! I got married in Loveladies, and I love to go down off-season, as much as I love to go down during peak season.

Playing wiffle ball on the beach, flying kites and playing in the ocean and sand were the things that help mold my fond memories. My dad said it didn't count going in the ocean if you didn't get your head wet. You had to go in all the way, or you couldn't claim you took on the cold water that week! I playfully tell my son the same thing. If you don't go in all the way, it doesn't count!

We always went back to the same place down the road from the Acme. When I was still a child, there was a drugstore between the Acme and movie theater. There was a small miniature golf place there too. It was the perfect location for my sister and I to be in. We were steps from the beach, and when we were bored at night, we'd walk to the movies or go buy a comic book and candy bar at the pharmacy. On the way, we'd drop postcards to our friends in the mailbox at the post office. The drugstore, post office and miniature golf are no longer there, but the Acme and theater are. I saw Star Wars and Jaws at that theater; time sure moves along! When Skipper Dipper opened, we added a quick walk for ice cream at the end of the night.

As an adult, we return time and time again. My dream is to retire on Long Beach Island. It's been my dream for the last 20 years. We rent both on the North end of the island, and the South end of the island. We cherish the quieter northern end sometimes, and other times we want the bustle of activity that the middle and southern side of the island offer. We're all booked for a June vacation; how about you?

Long weekends are split between beach front hotels. We love them all, there's no favorite, so we rotate and stay at three different ones!

I hope that by sharing my love of the island, along with tips and reviews, it will help make your vacation to this gem of a place even better. I always think there's not a single person who loves this island more than I do, but then everyone who loves LBI is as passionate about it as I am! What's not to love? It's a very special place, and I'm thrilled I've got the opportunity to share a little bit of knowledge and experience with you.

My entire life, I've never lived more than 2 hours away, and no matter where I travel, it's still Long Beach Island that holds my heart.

I've been to LBI hundreds of times over the years. Sitting on the beach in the late afternoon, with perfect weather, watching the ocean, I find peace and serenity. It's an incredible place to visit. Sometimes I just long to be there, so I hop in my car and head down, just so I can be there for a little while. I hope to see you there!
