Surf Fishing New Jersey
Surf Fishing New Jersey style includes a couple of hot tournaments each year! Here are two local clubs you'll want to check out. LBI has a surf fishing tournament each year. It looks like this year it will run from October 7 to November 19th. Check their site, as I'm not firm on those dates. They have a website you can visit for contact information and details. The Long Beach Island Fishing Tournament site can be found here. Late June of this year, there will be a White Marlin Tournament held by the Beach Haven Marlin and Tuna Club.

Picture of me at age 12 (I'm 40 now) fishing at a lake in the Poconos. My dad said I couldn't fish unless I would bait my own hook. I was game, those worms never bothered me!

I remember about five years ago, sitting out on the deck of a gorgeous Loveladies long beach island rental, and I swore I saw some dolphins go by. I wasn't sure exactly what they were at that moment, but they were running from south to north! I came to find out they were stripers running. It was late May, and a house full of fisherman were nearby. I went down to talk to a few of them, and they explained that there was nothing better than fresh stripers. Catching stripers meant getting up early, or fishing after dark. They were a bear to catch, but when you did, it was well worth those early morning hours. I grew up with my father being an avid outdoors man. He spent his free time between hunting, fishing, deep sea fishing, and every year we went to LBI, he would go crabbing with some family friends. Crabs just always creeped me out because the walk sideways, so I opted out! I'm a girl, you'll get over it! Anyway, I'd done my own share of fishing (trouts and sunnies) in lakes when I was younger, but haven't taken on surf fishing yet; but I listened when he talked. I miss him...he passed 5 years ago, just a few months before I rented that house I spoke of, and got married. Long Beach Island has been a family tradition since I could walk. Every time I see guys surf fishing New Jersey style, I smile and think of my dad.
