in the Ocean Trenches
Ocean fish are a great reward when surf fishing, and in New Jersey you've got a great variety. When casting, you'll want to look for ocean trenches, which is where many fish will be pocketed and found.The sandy bottom gets carved into ocean trenches, and in those nooks and crannies, you can find a plethora of fish just waiting for your bait. Because the movement of the ocean is constant, the sand continues to shift, and the ocean trenches can change depth. What may be a good spot one one day, may not be there the next. Grab some cut bait and get yourself a bluefish, or some moving bait for fluke! Maybe you'll get lucky and grab a Striper(Striped Bass). If you're interested in Blowfish, grab a smaller and longer hook, along with some blood worms or squid.
