New Jersey Fishing License

A New Jersey fishing license is required for anyone over the age of 16. Once you reach age 70, you are no longer required to get a license if you have valid ID showing proof of age. Freshwater: public and private water is included in this, and covers: rod/line, hand line and arrow or longbow Saltwater: limited number of licenses and permits, there is not a general saltwater fishing license With New Jersey Saltwater fishing, you don't need a saltwater license to surf cast, deep sea or bay fish. The exceptions include clamming (now called shellfishing), crabbing and other shellfish. Commercial saltwater fishing is not included in this information.
