It's my favorite place to be, and offers so much for couples and families. The sandy white beaches go on for miles, so pick your favorite area, whether you're looking for a quiet section of beach, or a busy hub full of shops and restaurants. Long Beach Island is synonymous with families. With so many activities for all ages, it's sure to please. It's just a hop, skip and a jump from the casinos of Atlantic City, or the boardwalk in Wildwood or Seaside. One of the best parts of LBI is the abundance of small local businesses and lack of franchises! What a refreshing, charming area. This gem on the Jersey coast is just waiting for you to spend the day, week or longer! If you’ve been here, you understand the charm of the island, and if you haven’t, let me share some of the special reasons so many people make LBI their vacation spot year after year. Many of the beaches along New Jersey offer you sandy beaches and access to the ocean, but not all of them are what you’re looking for. Where some beaches are thriving with partying younger kids, or an all night lifestyle – Long Beach Island is different. It’s a family oriented vacation spot which offers entertainment, great beaches, plenty of tasty food options with restaurants galore – but one thing is missing – a boardwalk. Some people love a boardwalk, while others are grateful there isn’t one. There are arcades, miniature golf, and plenty of great shopping on Long Beach Island, but the island offers great quality family time without everything that comes along with a boardwalk. If you’re looking for a quieter vacation, one where families can relax along side with retirees, and singles, LBI is a great choice. It’s understandable that some families want that busy, craziness that comes with some of those more commercial shorelines. If winning t-shirts on a boardwalk is your thing, take a short drive down to Seaside or Ocean City, but then come back to the tranquility of LBI for the rest of your trip. On the beaches, you’ll find gorgeous, well kept homes, protected by dunes and a sandy white beach. The emphasis is on fun, a relaxing environment, and family. I’ve been going to LBI since I was a child. It’s always my first choice of all the Jersey beaches. I’ve played on many of the beaches over the years, but nothing compares to the charming and quaint island running a length of nearly twenty miles. At 18 miles, you’ll find restaurants to suit every need, whether you’re looking for a quick burger, a delicious sit down meal for two, or a family restaurant. You’ll find shopping, a lighthouse, boating, fishing, and so much more. You don’t want to miss the incredible sunsets over Barnegat Bay, it’s a great way to end the day, before heading out and enjoying activities like ice cream, Bay Village, and if the kids want a little “boardwalk” type fun, you’ll find a fun section of rides and games at Fantasy Island. It’s quietly tucked along the main drive, leaving the actual shoreline, where you want to enjoy nature at it’s best untouched.
