Holgate
Holgate, NJ is also referred to as Beach Haven Inlet. I'm personally not sure why this town goes by two names, but alas, they are one of the same. After crossing the causeway, you're heading south. In fact, you're going all the way down to the end. This southern most point of Long Beach Island offers hotels, beautiful beaches, surf fishing, along with a few little conveniences. The hotels that come to my mind when thinking about Holgate would be the Sea Spray Motel, Lorry's Island End Motel, and Hurleys of Holgate. There's a very relaxed feel when you come to this narrow portion of the island. Rent some good stuff at The Boardwalk, grab a sandwich at the South Beach Grill (hint: cheesesteak!) and a really cool thing to do is to pull into the public parking access and look out. Do you see what I see? It's Atlantic City in the distance. At night, it's really neat to see it all lit up across the water. Holgate also hosts the only trailer park on Long Beach Island. There's always one or two for sale, so stop in the office and strike up a conversation.
