October doesn't mean that the fun ends on Long Beach Island. In fact, there's a great festival you'll want to be a part of this weekend! It's the annual Chowderfest!
It's time to come out and vote for your favorite chowder. Do you prefer red or white chowder? The best Red or Manhattan chowders, and white or New England chowders are out to sweep it all and take a win! I'm a New England chowder girl myself.
Saturday, October 3rd, come enjoy some great bargains at the Merchant Mart, then get your taste buds ready for Sunday's chowder cook-off!
While you can get great bargains at the Merchant's Mart on October 3rd, be sure to take in the rest of the island. In the fall season, there are sales to be had, and that cool item you were checking out this summer just may be had at a great discount now!
While you're enjoying a drive on the island, be sure to keep a look out for all the scarecrows that will be making an appearance. Last year, Scarecrow Row offered a lot of fun - trying to spot the scarecrows, and seeing the different creative decorations.

One of the things I love about autumn is that the island quiets down a little bit with kids back in school. With great weather, it's a lovely time to come for a romantic weekend. It's perfect weather for hand-in-hand walks, riding a bike, or strolling through some shops.
You can also come down and check out some different areas you may not have noticed before. There are so many beautiful homes in the area, it can be lovely just to look around the island.
Don't forget you'll want to start planning for next year's vacation. I'll tell you a secret - we LOVE to come down in the fall. We can get a nice bargain on a home - the island is quieter and restaurants less crowded. It's like having all the beauty of LBI to yourself!
